Mountain View’s sports department does very well for itself. 87 state championships have been won since 1980. An average of 2.5 per year. Beyond the achievement of winning, there is the bonding of brothers and sisters that has a profound impact on an athlete’s life. Peter Harper (Sen.) said “Wrestling has taught me discipline and how to work hard… You know that your brother always has your back even if it’s just some math tutoring.”
Grant Stowell (Jun.) Said “Colin schow has kept me motivated in football and in everyday life. I appreciate what he has done for me.” The emotional bonding and support goes a long way in a teenagers life. Team sports also keep grades high and truancies low because of the expectations. Cheerleaders for example have to maintain a 3.5 GPA in order to cheer.
