Mountain View is one of the greatest schools in the state of Utah. The sports program does very well at claiming championships. However, the arts are renowned statewide as well. The Mountain View Wikipedia page states “It is also noted for its immaculate theatre, music program and arts program, which have all won many awards on state and national levels.” Grant Stowell, a junior who almost faithfully participates in productions, said that “Mountain View has, arguably, the best drama program in the entire state.”
The self expression and school spirit that lives at Mountain View influences the performers dramatically. The support from student body and administration has a profound impact on every piece displayed; Mr. Criman’s production of Blithe Spirit held countless references to administration and faculty. When a student has poured their soul into a piece or performance, the applause of the audience is so gratifying. The emotional support and bonding within a cast or ensemble has a lasting effect on an artist’s life. The arts teach dedication and perseverance. Hours upon hours of work for only a few moments of glory. There often isn’t a trophy to take home, just the pride of knowing you performed your part, and that you did your best.
