On April 12, a Russian fighter plane came within thirty feet of a United States Destroyer in the Baltic Sea. The Cold war may have ended, but the situation is still the same. Two countries are testing the limits of the other’s patience. Russia appears to be trying to provoke an end of peace, yet peace isn’t hands hovering over red buttons with keys turned. However, America can do nothing in defense or the thin veil of peace will disintegrate. Einstein said that he doesn’t know what WWIII would be fought with, but WWIV will be fought with sticks, and that will because of the idea of mutually assured destruction. M.A.D. is the most dangerous part of the little balance act of war or peace. If either side reacts in an unsatisfactory way, the world ends and no one wins. The tense feelings between America and Russia will only rise as the limits are pushed. There has already been a cold war, but cold war II seems to be approaching quickly.
