Queen. A noun or a verb, meaning a female sovereign or monarch (dictionary.com). Many of you reading this probably think that exact thing upon hearing the word. I, on the other hand, think of one of the greatest bands of all time.
Queen was a British rock band formed by Brian May and Roger Taylor who joined Tim Staffell to form a group called Smile, Staffell later left to go solo and May and Taylor joined Freddie Mercury and later John Deacon.
Queen has made and performed such hit songs as, Bohemian Rhapsody, We Are The Champions, Another One Bites The Dust, Killer Queen and many more.
Queen was also renowned for their live performances, they always played like they had something to prove, even after they had amassed fame and fortune. LIVE AID, an event in 1985 that was organized to help the ongoing Ethiopian famine was arguably one of the greatest ever, because of everyone it featured, what it was helping and how all the featured artists performed. Queen, David Bowie, U2, Elvis Costello and many more performed at Wembley Stadium in London. While Madonna, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones and many more performed in Philadelphia at JFK Stadium.
Queen was, and partially still is, an incredible band that will forever live on in the hearts, minds and ears of listeners for generations. The band’s songs all have incredible meanings within the combination of the bass, electric, piano, drums and any other instruments or sounds they used in the creation of their music.
Queen will live on forever, now go and sing along to Bohemian Rhapsody.
