Being a writer for opinion, though entertaining, is often a struggle for me. I need to be fueled by some, past or current event so I can really develop an opinion on it.
The GOP Debates for the 2016 election season? Pass.
The MVHS Spirit Week? Can I really have an opinion about it?
Being a sophomore? I’ll pass again.
Is there anything that I can write about? That’s what this article is here for dear reader.
I hope that this won’t turn into the wrong thing just because I’m listening to smooth jazz and looking at the keyboard I’m typing on, we will see when I’m done.
The idea of an opinion is strange to me, sometimes you see something and you dislike it, why? What has happened to you in order for this idea of distaste to be developed? Why are some people so picky? Why can’t we have a society of Jeff Bridges in The Big Lebowski, (I would be 100% okay with referring to everyone as “The Dude”) what makes opinions so crucial? Customer reviews on products, in election for political offices, in finding employment, why is the opinion so prominent in a society where any opinion can offend anyone?
Opinions are really so deeply rooted into the very framework of our society and I cannot see why, people and their opinions are the same in many ways. The car someone drives, the music someone listens to, the clothes and styles of someone, it all reflects who they are as individuals. If someone wears sweatpants and an oversized t-shirt most places, go them, honestly. All of these things are opinions and all of them are held so highly in our society, is status that important? What makes status so crucial? Having a lot of money and being successful? Why have so many people, all over the world, become so addicted to the idea of being successful and flaunting it?
As I’m writing this, I’m thinking of more “great and important content” I could give to you as the consumer but I’ll limit myself this time as this article already has about three different points of approach.
As the reader, unless you are wiser than myself and do not often question the ways of mankind, ponder these points. The answers should all be relatively obvious and I have hopes that this article, if read by the right person, will even enrage some of you. You know who you are. ;)
