This year the attendance policy changed and the sluffing habits of so many students were affected so harshly. Last year the policy was so easy to twist and manipulate that so many could easily get away. Getting away with playing hookey was as easy as getting a tardy slip. Literally. Mountain View students would hide in bathrooms, locker rooms, the wrestling room, above the gym, inside classrooms, seminary, the back stairs, the orem recreational center, in a friends car, the library and who knows what other creative locations people could come up with to waste their time doing absolutely nothing. Some might exclaim that sluffing helped them catch up on sleep or get a good breakfast. None of them will tell you about their suffering grades. Admittedly, there are some who manage to keep up their grades while only attending a fraction of the classes the rest of the school attends. The students who sluff often and use it simply to get kneaders or go to lake to do very illegal things seem to be the ones complaining about the difficulty of school. If those students would simply go to class then high school would be so much easier. This year Bruins don’t have the privilege of a faulty attendance policy and the students who still can’t comprehend the connection between going to class and grades are suffering. Many have learned their lesson but some seem to need even more of a push.
