The new year is coming around and more modern teams are being formed. Every school has it’s own unique way of choosing the next upcoming team. Schools that are rated 5a are almost a joke to competing with schools that are 3a. They have more students, and let's be real, better funds too. The difference in the dance department is, schools can choose how many people are allowed on with either little experience or a lot in this field. Mountain View goes through a series of tasks in order to get on the dance team. With the audition being on May 16th and 17th, auditionees are asked to get all eight of their teachers signatures and have a dance background. In the actual dance process, they are asked to memorize various different combos. These combos include jazz, hip-hop, modern, a ballet portion and across the floor. Judges will be watching for not only technique but how the person carries themselves. After all the dances are learned, they are then put into a room and called out by their number, three at a time. They are then placed in front of the judges and will perform all that was learned the day before. Being in the company for three years; it’s essential in audition to carry yourself well and focus.
