Utah’s economy has expanded by 3.1% this year, making it the seventh highest growth rate in the country. This is seen by the boom that Northern Utah is experiencing, along with other areas like Provo, Lindon, and Spanish Fork. Business, population, and construction are rapidly growing. University Place in Orem is on the move and expanding. The mall is seeing its first signs of construction inside and out. This includes the Aston Court Apartments. The Aston Apartments are in their first phase of construction and are predicted to end construction, summer of 2016. The new apartments will consist of 478 residents, a clubhouse, gradelevel parking under the residential units with 534 parking spaces in the garage. The University Mall is changing from a regional mall to a gathering place. The five story office building construction, began in January 2015. The offices being built are scheduled to open this winter, February 2016. The class A office buildings will attract and host top tier companies. Along with the apartments, and office buildings a “green space” outdoor walking area will be added. Featuring an outdoor and indoor children’s play area, an outdoor stage and multiple water features. What is known now as the University mall will soon become the heart of Orem as a gathering place for the community and those who come and visit.
