On Tuesday in the band room, Dr. Jon Skidmore Workshopped with Mountain View students to overcome stage fright. Having a Doctoral degree in psychology, Dr. Skidmore taught the psychology behind fear and second guessing ourselves. The “monkey chatter” and self-doubt were overcome by the audience in the short 90 minute workshop. Students were told how to quell their fears and perform with exuberance. The five steps to overcoming stage fright are as follows:

- Understand the psychology of the brain.
- Don’t get lost in the brain’s first response.
- Calm down and focus your energy.
- Declare your preparation complete.
- Enjoy the performance.
