Around 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Chile suffered from an 8.3-magnitude earthquake. Reportedly, there have been 8 deaths and one person still reported missing. Luckily, most Chilean buildings did not collapse due to the earthquake readied foundations. However, the quake caused 15 ft tall tsunami waves to rise along the entire coast. The quake was so large, it has effected other parts of the world. As far as the news has reported in this disaster, only small tsunami waves have reached California and Hawaii due to the quake. Though there is no danger of high tsunami waves in theses areas, it could cause danger to boats and swimmers in the water. As of right now, no signs of any aftershocks have occurred. The conditions in Chile aren’t looking bright now as thousands have claimed to have no electricity with certain areas deprived of clean water. The Bruin Post gives their heart out to all affected by this disaster.
