Following the first home football game on Friday, MV students gathered in the school gymnasium to participate in a back-to-school dance.
According to Adeline Lartey the DJ was “Sick, as always,” and played a variety of songs such as Work From Home by Fifth Harmony, Watch Me by Silento and Heathens by Twenty One Pilots. Part of the Dj’s set included, having dance characters from the famous Just Dance video game portrayed on a large screen behind him. The students were able to dance in correlation to move and groove.
Savannah Johnston commented on the DJ’s efforts saying, “The songs that the DJ picked were all amazing and I loved the just dance [characters].”
Emma Campbell recounted her experience at the dance saying, “It was so much fun! I was able to dance with all my friends. We didn’t have any soft or slow dances, but it was still a lot of fun.”
During the song, Dance Off by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, many students crowded around in a circle in the middle of the gym floor and proceeded to have a “dance off” of sorts.
At the end of the dance the students gathered for their traditional “War Time” cheer and the MVHS fight song. By 11:30, the music was shut down, the students were ushered out and members of the student council were on cleanup duty. The dance overall, was a success.
