Mountain View High School’s drama department is now preparing for the annual banquet on May 18th! The Drama Banquet (managed by Joseph T. Stanley) holds a number of events, the first being the actual dinner banquet. After which MVHS Thespian Presidency then hosts the award ceremony which showcases the best actors and techies in the shows as well as the best one act directed by the Drama 4 students. Along with the award ceremony the beloved directors will announce the upcoming shows for 2016-17. The order of the shows announced is as followed: The Shakespeare show, the first musical, the senior show, a straight play, and lastly the second musical. Next the ceremony reveals who will be in the Thespian Presidency next year. As seen the Drama Banquet is quite an exciting event for the thespians here at Mountain View and it gives students something to look forward to next school year.

There is no doubt that Orem has suffered a great hit with road construction lately, especially near Mountain View. This has been an ongoing hassle for months now, and some students are starting to get used to the mess, while as most of the Bruins are getting fed up with needing to drive around the construction or having to take a longer route. This road chaos has resulted in numerous tardies and leaving students irritated with the countless times they have to sit in the road for 20 minutes or even more time. There has been plenty of jokes going around the school as well about the unnecessary and bad-timed road construction. Saying things like changing the state flag to a road construction sign. These type of things are all a sign of things that tend to be, in most of the school’s opinion, ‘the worst time of the year to do construction’. Although these construction sites are a result of awful traffic, they don’t seem to be completely useless. The construction seems to be in progress of fixing pipes underneath the road. The bad timing is quite possibly the only time they are able to fix the construction, so whether or not they fix it tomorrow or they fix it in two months, we have to understand that it’s probably for the better and it’s here to bring balance to the force (in the road.) -All girls interested in playing soccer next fall- parent/player meeting this Thursday at 7:00 pm in the MVHS lunchroom.

Last year Star Wars arose out of the ashes to bring us The Force Awakens. During this time Lucasfilm undisclosed that with the production of episodes 7-9 they will also be making 3 anthology spin off films. Now the first of those three movies, Rogue One, has just released its first teaser trailer on April 6! The plot of the film already had fans very interested and now that the teaser has dropped, theories and pandemonium have struck Star Wars lovers everywhere. The movie takes place in between episodes 3 and 4 but more towards the beginning of A New Hope, because the base plot of this film is how the rebellion obtains the Death Star plans. has a whole new cast that has never been seen before in the star wars saga. New main characters, new stormtroopers, and new villains. In a situation like that, no one has any guarantees to stay alive (especially stormtroopers). Even with all the new characters, the best part about this new movie is that it’s bringing fans back to the first era of star wars. The end of the film most likely will be moments before the events that take place in the original Star Wars; this means that a Darth Vader cameo is almost imminent, although such an appearance has neither been approved or disclaimed; hopefully from the next official trailer that will be disclosed. The movies premiere date is December 16 of this year; 8 months could not come any quicker. By London Sorensen
