Hard times will come. During those hard times you have two choices. You can either choose to be happy or you can choose to be sad. I guess you can have three choices if you decide to be angry. Either way, it’s your choice. The best choice is often when those times hit, to do the things that bring a smile to your face. There are many things in life that can make you happy. Some happy moments come from your own pleasures while others come from bringing others pleasure. Some people find happiness in watching movies or NetFlix while others find it by doing services for family and friends. There is a difference between joy and happiness. Happiness are small things that bring that temporary pleasure, while joy comes from things that bring everlasting pleasure. Either way, both are needed to find that happy balance in our lives and it’s our choice on whether it’s temporary, lasting or both.
At Mountain View there are many different varieties of things that bring others happiness. Some people find happiness in the sports while others find it in the arts. Some find happiness doing homework while others see how long they can avoid it. Some find happiness on their own while others find it with their friends or family. Some people have big times of happiness come around holidays. One former student explains how they find happiness in puppies because they are cute. Miriam Jones says, “pink sunsets and old people holding hands. they just make me smile :).” There are many instances where we can find happiness through others. Being happy for others is a good way to keep a smile on your face. So the next time something comes around knocking that smile off your face, experiment a little and find those precious things that bring you joy.”
