The Bruins had a rough first game, losing to Springville 18-5.
The Bruins had a great bounce-back win vs Hurricane, 7-2.
The Bruins then lost a tough one to Woods Cross in a close comeback where Duke Kirby hit a homerun. Even with a great effort, the Bruins came up short, 7- 5, against Woods Cross.
For the last game of the tournament, the Bruins played Skyridge, and with the last game of the week and the lack of pitching depth, the Bruins came up short,11-5.
Ending the tournament 1-3 doesn't seem successful, but the Bruins are a young team and they can hit the ball and score points. What I look for going into the season is how good the pitching can be. The Bruins need a third or fourth pitcher to step up and help them win in tight situations.
The Bruins open region play this week vs Provo, and if they play the way we know they can play, the Bruins should have no problem competing and even beating the Bulldogs.
